Sam Rayburn is at 155.27 ft and has been coming up slowly. We have gotten rain from each of the fronts that have gone thru. Sam Rayburn is still low but things have begun to look better.
The lake is 9.13 ft low and we are seeing some of the sand bars and humps starting to go under water. Everything is starting to look different again with landmarks changing every time the water level changes. Keep this in mind when you're running around and don’t take any chances. The back of the creeks have been muddy from the rains and the grass lines have been slowly disappearing. The grass you found last week may not be there next week.
Trophy Bass
There been a few good fish move up this week. The water warmed up some more in the main lake and pockets with the warmer weather. As often happens a cold front pushed though to hold them back from the bed. This is the way it goes each year; so that we have more of a chance to catch that big fish moving up; waiting. We've been catching fish on a lot of different baits, the lipless bait has been the top producer. The senko’s and the wacky worms in the shallows and over the grass have been picking up a few fish. They are great for the guys that want to fish slow and enjoy that thump on the line. Colors, try plum apple, water melon red and black blue in the muddier water. The lipless bait has been getting lots of hits and colors change from red to chrome from day to day. Sometimes they want to see something new, or a different sound maybe just the ticket to get them to bite. The spinner bait bite has been pretty good over the grass with white or Bream colors being the best. As with any bait change up the retrieval, from fast to slow, stop and go or letting it drop sometimes will trigger a hit. It’s about seeing what will trigger the bite, or as one top pro says, "Tricking the fish to bite is your job." Crankbaits and Jigs off the long points moving into the spawning grounds shad and bream colors have been the best. Some of the staging spots have been holding a few fish as they move up, then back out as the fronts push though. Carolina and Texas rig Lizards and Old Monster worms in watermelon red and watermelon seed are two colors that have gotten some hits. The bite has been very light and at times it just feels heavy. So the old saying, "Hooks sets are free" goes here. Remember, little fish hit a bait hard, a big fish just sucks it up then plops it out.
One thing for sure, you can’t catch a Trophy Bass sitting at home watching the boob tube. Get some new line on all the reels, get out, and get fishing. It’s nice to get away and enjoy a day on the lake. Take someone fishing this week.

Crappie
The Crappie fishing has been slow as they move down river but we are still catching a few. They should start bunching up and that’s when the fun starts. They will move in shallow and bunch up, that’s when you can load the coolers. Having fun with your friends and family is the best. Grab the kids and friends then come enjoy a day on the water. Everyone has loved the new pontoon with the shade, changing room and the port-o-potty. We can handle up to 8 anglers.
